Rudolf Laban, born in Bratislava (1879-1958) was one of the founders of European Modern Dance as well as the initiator of one of the most complete theories of human movement and the universal notation system of this movement used in artistic, educational, therapeutic and industrial field. Dancer, teacher and choreographer as well as theorist, he built, in the early 1900's during his stay in Switzerland at the Monte Verità, an ICOSAHEDRON: 20 face volume and 12/26 spatial directions, which allowed him to find an analytical approach to motion. The analysis of this spatial model teaches the use of space and how to visualize dimensional, diametral as well as diagonal movement and its reflections in order to find the maximum expression of movement.
